So, I've been noticing huge frame drops in games recently. I decided to check task manager's performance tab, to see if something is happening, and what I saw is my CPU's speed going from ~2.40GHz to as low as ~0.5GHz, which causes huge fps drops in games.

My laptop specs:

  • I5-4200U CPU
    4GB Ram
    Nvidia GT 740M

I have no clue of what could be the cause of this and this is why I am posting here. If you could help me out I would be really thankful!

Thank you in advace! :)

Blowing air in may help, but generally you need to take it to bits.
When you blow air in, the dust just goes in to the computer, which isn't good.
Find your laptop online, and someone will have a DIY on how you dismantle it.

My fan isin't blocked and it doesn't sound like it has died. I guess it needs cleaning. How would I end up cleaning a laptop. Is it possible to clean it without opening it. From what I've seen opening my laptop is too complex for me. Would I just need to blow compressed air into the vents?
