Hey guys,

My computer is the hub of my digital home, is works as home theatre, gaming computer and for my work as an Architect.

I'm currently runnng audio off the Asus P6X58d-E Mobo without a Soundcard.

Would I see a big difference with:

A) Decent sound card

B) USB DAC

I don't run surround sound but I have a decent Amp and 2 good 2-way shelf speakers and a 2-way centre.

Cheers,
Daj

To add, the reason I ask this question is I just bought a set of Shure SE215 earphones and they put my Steel Series 4 Headphones to shame, I can hear things I never knew existed on audio tracks

by amplifier do you mean a receiver which has a built in amplifier or just an amplifier? if its a receiver you can just plug in your headphones no problem. with an amp i'm not sure.

soundcards feature integrated amps in them. even your integrated soundcard does. things might sound better, but stacking an amp on another amp can also increase background hiss/noise.

if you are happy as is without an amp, it might not be worth looking into.
