Defrag detecting 300gb hard drive

even after defrag of hard drive, drive c and drive d, when i reboot and look at what i would think should be updated free space, it is not showing me that when i gain access to that area... why? shouldn't i have seen an increase in my free space after defragging those areas???

It depends. How full are each of the drives? How often do you defrag? I'm assuming that drive d is a partition, maybe even a back up with the OS recovery on it. If so, I'd stay away from that.

Since when does defragmentation free disk space? It just moves file fragments around to make access time faster.
