Solved! Dell Inspiron 600 Laptop Fan Adjustment

Dear Colleagues,

I have a seven year old Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop. The fan is running so fast that it seems to a fairly incompetent computer user that the fan is sapping power from the computer and its cable connection. Can the fan speed be adjusted? How?

It depends on the BIOS. I'm not sure if Dell has their BIOS locked down to the point where the fan speed cannot be adjusted or not. You can check though by simply going into the BIOS the next time you boot the laptop.
