Question Dell Inspiron p65F wont boot or display

Today i plugged my laptop into the ac power. Heard a shorting sound for a few seconds and faint wiff of burning coming from the ventilation slot now it wont start again or display anything.

I have taken it apart and dont see any signs of damage. I have also disconnected the fans but still the only thing happens is the power light comes on for 30 seconds then it shuts off. No noise whatsoever which there usually is. I have tried starting it with the very minimal amount of hardware eliminating other potential faults and still nothing.

Is my motherboard fried or could it be something else?

It could be a few things. I would suggest you have a looked at, either by the manufacturer (if under warranty) or by a local tech.
