Dell MKS14 USB3.0 Docking Stand

Anyone here heard or used the newly launched Dell MKS14 Docking Stand. It looks like a really integrated universal docking solution with Dual Video output plus notebook charging..

Main problem with those is that they're using DisplayLink chips, so you get compression artifacts, low frame rates, and it only works on Windows.

But it seems a lot of USB3.0 docks are using Displaylink technology. I have browsed through lots of reviews of the compression technology and it seems good enough for my use.. mainly office and some movies. I'd agree that it is not for gaming..

It's night and day with movies and even things like card games on my dad's 2560x1440 screen vs HDMI. Gets far worse if you actually use the ethernet or USB ports on the dock.

Actually the latest driver set from DisplayLink seems very stable and runs on Windows and Mac OS, I also saw they demonstrated Android and Chrome at CES this year.

Certainly didn't work on Linux when I tried it. Don't know about macs, and I hate their treatment of the FOSS community.

It seams to be working pretty well with this 4 monitor setup on a MacBook Air.... maybe you should read this before rushing to judgment...
