Hi I’m a novice at this so it might take a few questions to get it sorted
I have a denon avr 3085
I want To get the sound to come out of the speakers when I hook the smart HDMI tv up
There is no HDMI on the avr which cables do I buy is it just a set of rca left and right cables put them in the tv then put into the avr rca ports where it says tv
Cheers

Solution
Your TV has both a digital audio output and a headphone jack.

You can do it either way.

Here are the TV specs>>>

Connections
Antenna Input YES
HDMI™ 3x HDMI™ 2.0
USB 2x USB2.0
Scart NO
VGA (PC in - D-Sub15) YES
CI+ YES
Component (YPbPr) in via VGA
Composite Video/Audio in YES
Digital Audio Output Optic
Ethernet YES
Headphone Out YES
I looked at the Denon.

No idea what TV you have...but the way I see it is you have up to two options.

You can come out of the TV with an optical cable to the Denon IF YOUR TV HAS AN OPTICAL AUDIO OUTPUT.

OR

You can come out of the TV with an analog output to the Denon IF YOUR TV HAS AN ANALOG SOUND OUTPUT.

Many times TVs don't have an analog output on the back...but you can use the headphone output and split it to left and right and go to the Denon.

Thanks jay
I thought I need rca cables which have a yellow and red rca at both ends

These toslink cables In amazon only have I attatchment at each end

If I buy these toslink cables where do I put them in the tv as I’m sure it has a yellow red and white rca ports
So does the avr
Cheers

"Where do I plug it in the the vcr "

This will most likely be the yellow, red and white cables.

Your TV has (or at least the internet says it has) a composite input.

The composite input is the yellow, red and white inputs.

Yellow is for video and red and white are for left and right sound.
