Denon AVR E400/Winegard HD antenna/Visio analog tv setup? I am unable to find the "scan now option. The antenna does nothing when connected to tv or the Denon. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Well I know TV you MUST scan before it will work.

Scan, Configure, Search, Program blah-blah-blah. Why TVs don't have Siri?

Currently have an optical connecting the TV to Denon. The E400's have the technology to translate analog to digital. Thinking of letting Appletv 'learn' the Visio remote. Keep the replies coming! TIA

Can't tell you exactly without TV model number can we?
If the TV is old it may not have a digital ova tuner built in at all. That may be why you can't find a scan feature.
If that is the case you will need an external ATSC tuner with output connection compatible with the TV.
Channel scan is usually in the TV set up menu. There is select whether the connection is over the air or cable. Then run the scan.

Was thinking external box maybe the answer.

That would work fine.
If you want to time shift there are multiple tuner models that record to a USB drive. Better quality tuners would be Channel Master or TIVO.
Plenty of others out there.
