Well it's nic eand noble for DICE to say this now, but they're really no better. When Battlefield 2 came out, they released extra maps but charged you money for them and called them "booster packs." No one bought them, and the people who did buy them were left with a bunch of maps that servers didn't support. Not to mention when the first Bad Company came out, and they tried charging extra money for unlocks but the huge negative backlash caused them to change their mind. And let's not forget Battlefield 2142...

But to their credit, they've finally released the booster packs for free (after 4 years) as well as a couple other free maps included in patches. Which means it's no longer difficult finding a server hosting those maps.

So yeah, DICE is far from altruistic. They're just putting on their marketing spin to try to gain the favor and support of people crying about Infinity Ward.

Too bad BF:BC was a terrible game, otherwise I'd buy the second one to support them.

Seriously... if you can break the shotgun pump animation by hitting the zoom button, that's poor quality. How did that - something you'll EASILY find within 5 hours of gameplay - make it past QA? How about the hundreds of hit-box issues (playing this one game I experienced more hit-box issues than I ever had before in any game)? What about betraying? It takes 10 teamkills to get kicked. 10! I could go on all day. How about instant-recharging artillery? 3-hit kill machine-gun turrets that have accuracy rivaling a sniper? Cool company viewpoint, but it takes half-decent games to make me a fan.

The only thing I didn't like with the BF series was the online registration to just play offline. I ran into problems with that and it was frustrating.

[citation][nom]zacharybaisley[/nom]I'll be picking this up if for no other reason than to support the development house The game looks cool to boot... Kudos DICE for the nod to all us hardcore PC gamers![/citation]

Exactly, wasn't all that interested, but now I want to support a developer that actually seems to care about its consumers. IW needs to remember that without the consumer they would not be there and not the other way around.

Even if this is just DICE capitalizing on IW's mistake, I don't care. IW needs to learn a lesson.

I haven't touched my xbox360 in so long I can't remember. PC still wins with me even though I have more xbox360 games than current pc games.

[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]Good for DICE. They have no interest in making money.[/citation]
... tayb you should start thinking before you speak ... your comments are useless.

Anyways, I was very happy to read this article. I like the last part when he said "If you have played games on the PC for the last ten years you would know what I’m talking about, otherwise I won’t even try to explain" I am right with you on that one! Finally somebody in game development sticks up for us Hardcore PC Gamers!!!

Im going to buy this game just because DICE seems to care about us PC gamers. I still love BF2 to this day and wish they would release BF3 at some point. Thanks DICE, Ill buy your game when its released!

Sorry to spoil the DICE celebration party, but they are just trying to play the good cop to all the people getting screwed by IW. That said maybe there is some truth in what they're saying, but the biggest truth behind the curtain is they merely see a lot of upset MW2 players looking for an alternative. As such they are taking advantage.

That's not a knock at DICE either, that's just how it's supposed to be done. Very well executed. This kind of savvy towards consumers deserves kudos. Consumers don't want to be treated like trash, left in the dark uninformed and unappeased. DICE knows the way to win over buyers is to stroke them harder and faster than the last time.

IW has lost my businesses until they make dedicated servers and it looks like my money will be going to dice. I don't pirate games but this makes me seriously want to pirate MW2.

I don't believe dice is doing this simply out of the goodness of there heart but they are now offering a better product, and recognizing what there customers want unlike IW, and they listen for what ever reason it is good enough for me.

This sounds like a load of BS to me. True we PC gamers do "put up with more crap". But all they've done is add a few extra crappy "features" (I mean seriously they're counting going prone as a "feature"?! what year is this? 2000?). It'll still have the shitty controls ports are infamous for. It'll still come out later and it'll still cost twice what a console version will when it's released. Thanks for the thought Dice but your game is still just another console port to me until proven otherwise.

[citation][nom]CoryInJapan[/nom]Hmmm Maybe this will be the next BF2.I hope so.Ive been wanting some new BF action that didnt suck.[/citation]
BF2 suck? It is one of the few games I continue to play years down the road as well as 1942. Compared to the many others I have tried, I really can't think of one bad thing to say about those 2 in the BF series. Love em both to this day!

He was saying that BF2 was the good one and the ones that followed weren't as good.

Anyway, it looks like DICE is making a good move here. Should be interesting, at least.

I always loved the Battlefield series more than the CoD series. And this just cements it.
