Did I make the right choice choosing Lenovo Y50 over Asus G551JM?

Hi everyone,

So, I just chose a Lenovo Y50-70 UHD 15.6 for $1099 over an Asus G551JM FHD 15.6 for $1000.

Here's the specs of the two:

Lenovo:
i7-4710hq 2.5 Ghz
Geforce gtx 860m 4 GB
16 GB RAM
512 SSD

Asus:
i7-4710hq 2.5 Ghz
Geforce gtx 860m 2 GB
8 GB RAM
1 TB HDD+24 SSD Cache

I tried both out and the Lenovo was indeed faster overall and had much better speakers (a big plus) and I didn't find the screen to be so bad, then again I'm not picky. The Asus has an optical drive but that doesn't matter.

I'll be gaming a bit (though it won't be able to run Witcher 3, but that's what my desktop is for), surfing, streaming, a little video editing, blogging etc. I'm just having some thoughts since people are saying that the Asus gaming systems have better cooling than Lenovo for example.

So... Did I make the right choice?

I prefer the cooling on the Asus, but Lenovo isn't bad and you're getting the extra DRAM, both in the rig and the GPU

Thank you! I tried both out and the Lenovo does indeed feel faster, I'll just have to make sure that I'll be gaming and running heavy programs on a flat surface!

You should be happy with it, I look to the ROG and Lenovo laptops first
