Didn't plug in laptop on first power up...?

I just received my Asus gaming laptop, and on the instructions, it says to ensure that it is connected to a grounded power adapter before turning it on for the first time. I turned it on without plugging in anything for the first time. Everything is working fine. It went into "Drive Power State Failure" twice. It hasn't done it again but should I be concerned? I wish this notice wasn't in small text on the back of the User Guide...

You don't have anything to worry about.

Things like that are for "conditioning" the battery, but there's debate whether it actually works or not.

That message is also possibly to make sure the laptop actually turns on in case the battery it comes with is drained.

That's what I was thinking after reading some other forums. I plan on keeping it plugged in most of the time anyways. Only time I'll actually need battery power is for class. Thanks!
