I need a new mic cable for my Tritton AX720 headset, and i was wondering is there a difference between a mic cable or an audio cable? if so could you tell me in detail what i should be looking for?

I just bought a Belkin car stereo cable that has 2 3.5mm plugs, and i'm using it as the mic cord for my headset. Apparently it isn't working because my ps4 says i still have no mic connected... Any ideas on what cable i should get? Maybe i should get a adapter that changes 2.5mm to 3.5mm?

Solution
A mic puts out a lower signal at a different impedance than a standard line level audio source so mic cable optimized for that application.
Often they can be interchangeable but if you have to get something get mic cable. It will be labeled for this.

Well the Mic acts like an Input frequency to what ever you're sending it to i.e Skype. And The audio is an output frequency which you are receiving from i.e. Skype, Spotify...
