After much searching, watching Ebay deals, 2 calls to Circuit City and
2 calls to DirecTV the price for an HR10-250 was $299 plus $14.95
shipping plus$18.84 PA sales tax for a total of $332.79 installed (for
free). This deal is not eligible for the $100 DirecTV rebate.

Best price on Ebay: $496.31 delivered. Probably eligible for the $100
rebate from DTV.

Best price from Circuit City was the current sale price of $599.99
plus tax less $100 ( I would save with getting 20% off of $500 worth
of gifts cards I could buy from a buying service) less $100 DTV rebate
for a final cost of $535.99.

The FIRST price quoted me by a DTV rep (not sure which dept.) was $649
plus PA sales tax of $38.94 plus $14.95 shipping less the $100 DTV
rebate for a final total of $602.89. I did mention much lower prices
elswhere, but the rep would not go lower.

I finally decided to buy from CC, but called DTV just to find out if
CC's sale price would be in effect next week (CC's told me to because
he said DTV sets the sale dates) when I was planning to buy at the
store. When I asked if CC's price would be good next week, the rep
immediately offered the deal in the first paragraph. I asked why the
other DTV rep had quoted a higher price. She said
it had to do with "training". Anyway, the rep I bought from worked in
the "customer installation dept." (888-355-7530) and that seemed to be
the difference. Like other posters have said - you may need to talk
to several different people before getting a great price.

Needless to say, I am delighted. They will deliver and install in 2
days.

BTW, We have been DTV customers since April of this year and have a SD
Tivo.

Please don't top post.

No. I'm not singling you out.

Not only that, what you posted is unintelligable.

In this particular case, it is unintelligible whether top or bottom posted!

Top posting works fine if you are following a set of messages in a
thread. Bottom posting is better when you want to see a logical
progression shown in one message. Each method has its advantages and
disadvantages and it only takes a couple of mouse clicks to move to the
top or the bottom in either case.

I prefer top-posting, for reading & posting. The key is to delete the
extraneous stuff & leave only the pertinent info right below your post. If I
have to scroll way down to find the new posting, I'm probably not going to
go.
