DMC-FX40 digital camera zoom opens automatically to max 5x and stays stuck. No other functions will work.

Is there a switch for "Manual/Auto"? If so try the Manual setting, and then turn it back to Auto.

Thanks. No external switch. Can't find anyway of getting into the menu so that option's no good.

Other options would be 1) User's manual, 2) Contact manufacturer's tech support, 3) Review similar situations in other brands of cameras; there could be commonality.
