Do USB adaptors sacrifice mic quality?

My audio jack slots on my soundboard are practically broken. I have a pair of Sennheiser Game Ones which use two separate jacks meant to go straight into the PC (which I cant do without replacing my sound card) and I really don't want to get into my PC right now. I also have an astro MixAmp which I use for better sound quality but does not have a mic port. My question is, will I sacrifice mic quality if I run the mic jack through a usb adapter into my computer? (my soundcard has no problem with USB).

Adapters? Yes
USB DACs, depends on the model but most will be better than onboard sound.


In your case though, the easiest way is simply to replace the audio jacks on your case with new ones, quite easy and cheap

what do you mean replace the audio jacks? i tried front and back ports but they both malfunction. are you saying it's not a problem with my soundcard? also, how badly does it degrade the mic quality?

You should have said that in the first place, I was assuming simple jack damage rather than audio port damage

If the onboard audio is broken, you'll need a replacement, here's a few:

cool thanks for the recommendations. but yea thats what i meant, just using the adapter for my mic. but would it really harm the mic quality that much? ive been using a blue mic with USB for awhile and it sounded fine.

I was afraid that was what you meant. It's really a piss poor dac, but what else would you expect for that price? If it works for you, why change it?
