Does a shelf speaker work on computer?

Hey guys im building a new gaming rig and i got a headset G930 logitech just a couple days ago. I really love low bass sound and im not going to use my headset all the time i have a set of 5.1 logitech computer speakers from 2 years ago that i got from bestbuy for around $100. And im just wondering does a shelf speaker work on a computer if so what parts will i need?

The audio OUT of the computer goes to the input of an amplifier..
The amplifier powers the speakers.
OR you need powered speakers.
The computer does not connect directly to speakers. There is no power to drive the speakers directly.

Hey hum so will these work Pioneer GM-5500T 2-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier with pioneer sp-bs21 lr on my motherboard audio I think it's the green coded plug. Do I need other cables or watever to use it ?
