Does Ethernet connect to The Modem then to your Desktop?

Hello so i was wondering if i buy a 100ft Ethernet cable am i able to connect the ethernet cable to my comcast modem which is downstairs and wire the ethernet upstairs and connect it to my Desktop and it will give me internet access? just wondering thanks for the ASAP responses

That's the idea. Your modem/router should have several Ethernet ports; use whichever one you want, then run the cable to the Ethernet port on your computer. As long as the modem has power and service, you should have internet access from there.

I have a Comcast modem with built in router and I was wondering how can I tell which one is ether net it doesn't tell me which one is

There should be 4 connections that all look the same usually with numbers on them 1-4. Anyone of them will work.
