Does leaving the light on while charging still damage the battery?

Hi, just curious about this, and here seems the best place to ask.

I know using the flashlight a lot will damage the battery life due to how fast it drains it, but how about when charging? Does the power pass through the battery to the flashlight/screen, or will the battery still end up with a much shorter lifespan?

It just charges slower since power is being drained. Damage is probably very little to insignificant.
