I seen the T420 around a lot, all over the web, but I am wondering if you can upgrade the graphics card to something better, I know it comes with Intel HD 3000 Graphics and an i5 processor, but no clue if those are integrated/on board graphics or dedicated graphics, if they are dedicated, what would be the max it could handle?

Really want 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics or minimum of something like a 2GB GIGABYTE GT 1030, running medium spec games and know I can turbo boost CPU to 3.0 GHz at least, so no worries there, but wouldn't want to overload it, so asking for a second opinion, if it's even possible to add graphics card...

Basically asking if it's a decent gaming laptop for likes of GTA 5 on medium/low settings, thanks for input. :D

Upgrade and laptop don't usually go well together, especially in this age of ultrabooks. Basically pay for how fast you want it to go.

£500 is just a little too low for what you are wanting, but here are some options:

First off, that is a fairly old laptop, original release date around 2010. Intel HD graphics is more than integrated, part of the CPU.

You can't install discrete desktop graphics cards into laptops. GT1030 and GTX1050 are only going to be found in laptops from 2017 and newer.

Even those laptops with upgradeable graphics will use MXM format cards. These more or less can't be purchased by end users. Older models can be found on ebay, but even then be prepared to pay a lot.

Short answer, no, not a good gaming laptop.

What is you budget for a laptop?

Around £500, looking for decent, cheap, upgrade-able laptop, just something that's good for running your average game on medium to low settings, so upgrade isn't a must, but would be nice. :p

There are a whole bunch of recent laptops for £440, but they all have the same description claiming they are sales floor models. Highly suspect as they should all be priced independently.
