I have 2 different 5.1 surround sets with the same jacks and was wondering if I could use a splitter on the 3.5mm jacks to double up the systems and get more sound from different places.

Also it it possible to use this to increase the sound quality, maybe even to up to 7.1 or 10.2?

Here is a pic to the IO on my motherboard.

Thanks!

if you have a soundcard that can support 10.1 then yes, however most soundcards only go up to 7.1 though so dont get your hopes up. you would just connect up the extra channels like it was a 10.1 system. the only trickier part is the subwoofer and center channel and for those you could just use a splitter on and put the center channels next to eachother and the subs on left and right to balance everything.

using all splitters would keep it as just a 5.1 and just give you more speakers. not really a point to doing this.

You can connect a 7.1 channel audio system to the back. You can then connect a pair of speakers at the front which will play concurrently with your 7.1 channel audio playback. I only have 3 audio connections. Blue, pink and green. Fortunately my motherboard can utilize up to a 7.1 channel audio system. I purchased a cheaper 5.1 channel audio system and am satisfied for the time being. I'm not an audiophile and still have much to do to bring the best out of my current system and its environment.

You can split the analog audio outputs and connect two surround systems.
You can't increase the number of channels. Running two systems at the same time in the same room is not advised. Will just confuse the directionality of the surround information. Use the better of the two systems.
No harm it playing with it if you want.
