Got a slightly used laptop off of ebay and it came with win8, but i'd really love to downgrade it to win7. I'm not totally sure how though. Looked around and got several guides and some different explanations. Also how do I know if i have the downgrade rights? And s there a program i have to download?

The model nubmer is:
SVE15134CXP

edited for correct model number

If you have the Windows 8 CDKey's keep those's around. Back everything you want up, maybe even put a Windows 8 ISO on a USB Drive for later down the road. After you've done all that put the Win7 disc and boot with that, will ask you some questions about keeping your files and such. Then install and boom.

Hello FoxConcerto instead of downgrading why not update to Windows 8.1? You can get it in the Windows Store (Start, Store) If its not in there update to the newest version of Windows 8 then upgrade to 8.1. It has everything that was great in windows 7 brought back into windows 8 (Start menu!!)

Or there is a program called start8 that brings back the start menu and removes Metro from windows 8.. will cost you money to downgrade cause you will have to buy windows 7

Well downgrading will cost you the price of re-buying windows 7. I would still advice you to look up windows 8 though, its faster on laptops and when used with http://www.stardock.com/products/start8/ it turns into windows 7 nothing really different?
