Hi,
I'm trying to fix a Compaq nc6320 laptop which I can't boot-up due to a DriveLock problem
I get this prompt at start-up:
"The embedded security password has been changed but the current hard drive is not the drive that was present when Automatic DriveLock was enabled. Changing the embedded security password affects Automatic DriveLock data, possibly making the original drive unusable. It is strongly recommended that the password not be changed until the original drive is replaced.
Press F1 to abort the password change or F2 to continue."
When I got ahead to change the password it shows that the "embedded security password" didn't match (a blue window with a key crossed out) then prompts me in a similar blue window for the Setup password which is not set to what it should be. I've tried clearing the CMOS by following the instructions in the manual and online with no luck. I've tried doing a secure erase on the drive to hopefully clear the DriveLock password but again, didn't solve the problem.
I'm beginning to think the problem is with the laptop rather than the hard-drive.
If anyone could help with this problem it would be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks!
J
