HP Pavillion dv9608 NR, dead hd, original Vista, upgraded to 7 pro 64bit. Want to replace with SSD. HP site has no drivers, support for unit. Which drivers do I need to get HD up and running? Drivers on HP site only for Vista install. Have gone to individual sites, but prospects are looking very iffy, whether they will work with hardware and OS. Win 7 is full version disk, only recovery disk for Vista, which wasn't effective for recovery of disk. Various disk wiping tools couldn't find hd. Mirroring not an option. Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Make sure you have AHCI turned on in your BIOS for whatever SATA port you are using. If you're using a program like Macrium Reflect to copy an Installation over to your new drive and continue on as you were (without having to reinstall your OS) then you may have to do a registry hack to enable AHCI in your operating system. "Windows 7 AHCI registry" in google should bring up the procedure, it isn't hard to do just don't go screwing around in your registry, be sure to follow the key paths accurately and then exit out of it. Without AHCI turned on your bios could fail to recognize it (make sure your bios is updated) and/or it won't utilize it or assign it a drive letter properly. AHCI ON in BIOS for SSDs is a must.
