Dummy audio loads

I have a Mackie 406M powered mixer for PA. It has a mixer line out jack right before the internal power amp input. Can I use the mixer line out to a set of powered speakers without having a load connected to the mixer power amp output or do I need a dummy load ?

Probably wiser to put a load on -- I would guess a resistor of the correct impedance and wattage.

I think I would ask the manufacturer, though.
