dvd recorder to tv

I have a Phillips tv but I cannot hook up the dvd. The back of the tv has 4 inputs.
Blue L/RVGA/DV1 Yellow L/R Green adaptor Black Serv.U Ihave tried mixmatching the colours but no good.
The tv has HDMI but the dvd has noneI
it does have component colours.
I do have a 3to 1 adaptor,and when I plug this into the Green adaptor I get a coloured picture but no sound there is no provision for RCA cables on tv .
any suggestions please. alan M

What model DVD Recorer and HDTV do you have? That will make it easier for us to determine what inputs and outputs you have. Since your TV does not have HDMI, the next best option would be to use Component cables.
