DVD setup is stalled on Visio's settings page

When connecting a Visio TV to a Samsung DVD player, I clicked on Menu by mistake and selected Settings. I should have selected Input in the first place. Now, the screen shows the settings page (select language), but clicking on Back or Exit doesn't clear the settings page. The HDMI cable is new. How do I get back to setting up the DVD player?

Did you try simply turning off the thing? Or just go through the setup again, if you can't exit it, sounds like you cleared the settings and need to run the setup.

TV is working just fine. When I press the Input button on the remote (for HTMI-1 which is connected to the DVD player) I get the setup screen. Unable to clear that screen. Can't get to a menu for connecting the DVD player. Doesn't matter which HDMI port the cable is connected to on the back of the TV, the setup screen still shows up.
