Hello,can the discs from my hitachi dz-mv780a camera be used in my computer to view the recorded movies

Probably. Try whacking them into the DVD drive and see what you can open.

Install VLC and try opening the biggest files with it. VLC can play back the vast majority of video formats so it's your best bet.
