DVI inputs and tint control

I purchased the Dishnet HD 811 satellite receiver and 34" Direct View HD
monitor (Thompson/RCA product built for this special DISHNET package).

One question: the setup options for "Picture" controls when using the
DVI input do not include tint control. The Tint control is available
for all other inputs (component, composite, S-Video), but not for the
DVI input. It isn't even listed as a selection option when in the DVI
mode.

I checked with a local retailer on other brands of TVs (Zenith and Sony
34" HD monitors), and, although tint was listed as a menu option when
selecting the DVI input mode, the salesman noted that if he were able to
connect a DVI source, the menu option for tint would become inactive.
He wasn't very confident in that statement, however.

I've never heard of this. Does anyone know the true scoop?

Tint controls are only needed when using the component inputs.
