Encryption key for sell laptops

Hello, we have four laptops in the office from previous employees and they left encryption on laptops. We would like to reformat these and provide to our replacement employees. Could we just format the HD? It asks at boot up? Or are these useless and we have to order new ones?

To completely format the PC use a bootable Windows USB or a CD to completely wipe out everything in those laptops.
