I've seen a couple of posts relating to a patch that enables more functions
on the 300D, can anyone point me to where I can get hold of it please.

Regards

Matt

It is NOT a patch. It is a modified FirmWare image that can be downloaded to the camera.
However, it would void the camera's warranty and if something goes wrong, it would make your
camera inoperable. This is true with Flashing almost all FirmWare.

All of which is quite true. However, it does not answer the original
question. The Waisa firmware can be found here:
http://satinfo.narod.ru/en/download.html . Use it at your own risk.

Flash'd mine with no problem at all, never heard on this group or any other
that had a problem. Takes all of about 10 seconds to do.

Me, too - of the HIGH STAKES variety.

I can only IMAGINE the warranty implications should one apply a HACKED
firmware update then need repairs.

Don't enter into it lightly.

I have looked at the websites and while there are benefits, I paid £800 for
the thing and can't afford to ah heck the warranty up, I think i,ll wait
until it's expired then do it.

Thanks for the help & advice

Wise decision Matt.

I thought that initially, too, but I just can't resist fiddling around
with things, so I applied it to my 300D and never looked back. It works
great and some of the extra functions see a lot of use, especially flash
exposure compensation.

General consensus that I've gathered from here, r.p.d, and various
websites is that nobody's had a problem with it yet (if anyone has, they
haven't made any noise about it), and those that have sent their cameras
in for warranty service haven't had any issues with Canon - at most they
find the camera re-flashed to the stock code when it's returned.

Personally, I say if you can use the additional functions, go for it.
