Ethernet over HDMI?

I have a laptop without an Ethernet port. I have 2 USB and 1 HDMI. The WiFi at work is so slow and with so many users, is there an adapter that would work over HDMI? My buddy has a MacBook that has an Ethernet to Lightning adapter. Does one like that even exist for HDMI?

USB-Ethernet adapter is your friend. Use a USB hub if needed.

HDMI can technically carry ethernet traffic, but I think you'd need to connect it to a TV with both HDMI and ethernet. Not sure; it's not something I've dabbled in.

HDMI has ethernet so you can use that connection instead of a switch to expand the number of ports available or to extend the connection to a TV that needs a wired connection without additional cables.
