Extend IR signal with fiber optics?

Does anyone know if you can send an IR signal from a remote control pointed at one end of a fiber cable out the other end of the cable if it is pointed right up to the IR reciever of a device? I want to be able to isolate signals from different remotes and receiver units in a common space to prevent any overlap

IR is light (but not visible to humans), so yeah. should work.

You can see IR by using a cheap camera. The rear cam on a phone will have an IR filter, but the front usually doesn't.
Use your front camera and you can see the IR light.

You would have to try it but at a guess it won't work. Even if the IR was transmitted you would have to isolate the receiver ends of the cables so they don't both receive the signal.

since they come in two frequencies but would have to use two remotes.
Another solution is to use a programmable RF remote and receiver like one of the URC remotes. You would have different devices programmed for each unit you want to control that would only fire IR out of the appropriate IR port of the RF receiver like this one:

Sounds like you have A couple of remotes using the same frequency. To answer your question, yes its possible to send ir down a fibre. First you think about the lens on your remote. its basically made to spread the beam all over the room, So some of the signal will get lost. Use a multimide fibre which has a bigger core, entry into the fibre should be a concentrating lens and output side a spreading lens. Point and shoot. Its either that or apart from previous suggestions, engage in some handiwork with remote and receiver
