Fan cleaned, but still some noise

Although this time it only persists for a short while after I take it out of sleep mode. Starts as a...thrumming, I think...then adds a light rattling noise. Any suspicions as to what this is about? The fan is whatever is built into the usual Toshiba Satellite C855-S5350.

Often times the fans that make that sort of a noise is an indication that it will fail at any moment of time. I would suggest that you keep a spare cooling fan at hand(one that conforms to your laptop) after you've verified that you've cleaned the cooling fan of any hair follicles and debris.

Had my fan cleaned again, although I was actually expecting him to replace the fan (I know fans for Toshiba Satellite C855-S5350 are available for purchase, only about $20 per). Still, I trusted that the fan was cleaned, especially since I was advised to use canned air in the future.

Well, I still get the rustling/rattling/whatever-word-works-best sound for a short while after the laptop starts up--just a day after getting it back. This is getting to the point where I'm seriously considering buying a new fan and doing the replacement myself. I'm just worried I'll lose something crucial in the process, or worse, break something...

(I still don't get why he didn't notice the fan was still making the rustling noise. Does he just not do fan replacements? I know the machine is from 2012, but as I said, the fans are still on the market.)

In your situation, I think it would be best to replace the fans if they are bothering you with their noise levels.
