We need to be able to run Autocad and photoshop, no 3d. Want a fast machine - was thinking a hybrid drive (need at least 500gb and a 512 gb SSD is cost prohibitive). Budget upper limit is $1500, but would rather spend $1000-$1200. Would ideally run windows 7. Any machines out there? Dell xps 15 seems to meet our specs except for running windows 10. Am I wrong to think a SSHD is the best way to go for fast bootup/performance and need for a large hardrive?

Go with a Lenovo Thinkpad P50S. Best machine for rendering, autocad, photoshop, and graphics work hands down and it fits into your price point and comes configurable with a ton of different storage configurations. Windows 7 is no longer safe to use or supported by most software. Its obsolete and I would recommend using 10 as its far better. No reason to use 7 at this point.

Thinkpads have the longest lifespans on average in the consumer and buisiness laptop sector, they use thinkpads on the international space station and have been for nearly a decade and they are still going. If they can be trusted to control a space station, then you will never have issues with them.

Hands down. Plus Eurocoms are rebranded sager/clevo machines and cheaply made. Do Not Buy.

Space isn't real. There's a dome covering earth. All the footage are staged/fisheye lensed.
Also, Eurocom is your best bet for an extremely demanding anything. No, they're not rebranded or poorly made. Idk how you came to that assumption...hmmm....

I do laptop reviews, i have tested every workstation thats currently out almost, and i can tell you this, sager,eurocom/clevo may be the most customizable but they have the lowest overall build quality.

I highly recommend MSI, Or lenovo workstations. They tend to be the best quality, and run the coolest when doing demanding tasks.

Those are good specs but workstation grade machines have way better cooling. They are designed to run heavy tasks for a long period of time. I think what your looking at is gaming grade possibly the y700 the downside to that machine is it runs very hot because of cooling system design flaws.

Yes - sorry it is the y700. So maybe the Dell XPS 15? The Lenovo workstations with the hybrid drives get really pricey quickly.
If the machine runs hot does that mean it runs loud? Anything I should/can consider?
I've come around to Windows 10 - mostly b/c I feel like we can get a consumer grade machine for a better price that way.

Thanks!
