Hello,
I have a Lenovo Ideapad 100s 11BY the manual can be found at the following link
https/cdn.cnetcontent.com/d0/57/d05735cc-c75d-490d-b563-24f8369acda4.pdf
I have no idea what happened, but the laptop started to ask for a bitlocker key when i booted it up. Apparently this is something set up by default by lenovo so not accessible. None of the recovery options worked as they all lead back to the bitlocker request for a key.
I asked a friend to take a look and he tried to boot from media but the laptop said "system doesnt support usb boot" or something. After a few hours he used command prompt to delete the partitions in the drive. Removing the in-built recovery drive effectively removing all windows OS from the machine. As the machine isn't supplied with a window 10 product code. Even if i found a bootable media i couldn't install it.
I have tried to download a free Linux operating system and put it onto a usb drive but it says "no bootable media inserted". The only solution i can think of is buying a usb cd-drive and installing the boot media onto the but i have been reading online and apparently the laptop has a 32bit bios and so linux may not work?
So I was wondering is anybody knows of an operating system I could use. A way to make the usb drive boot media work or if buying a £10.00 usb disk drive to make a cd-rom bootable media is worth the investment.
Thank you in advance
