Fix black screen after turning on your Samsung Galaxy S6

If your cellphone is one of those that won’t switch on properly after a reboot, here’s how to fix the black screen after turning on your Samsung Galaxy S6.

One of the advantages of having a removable battery is to enable you to force a reboot if your phone freezes or something happens to make it unresponsive. That’s something Samsung brought back in the Galaxy S7 but that doesn’t help you if you have the S6. If your handset isn’t responding or isn’t booting properly, try one of these:

Reboot your Galaxy S6 into recovery mode and wipe cache partition
1. Power off the handset.
2. Press and hold the volume down and power button until the Android System Recovery screen appears.
3. Select Wipe cache partition. Navigate using volume keys and select using the power key.
4. The phone should reboot normally.

Wiping the partition and rebooting from recovery mode seems to address the black screen issue for many. If your phone still isn’t loading properly, try this:

1. Power off the handset.
2. Press and hold volume up, home and power buttons until a blue screen appears.
3. Select restart phone using the volume keys and power key to confirm.
4. Wait for the phone to reboot.

If you still need to fix the black screen after turning on your Samsung Galaxy S6 and these two steps don’t work, you may need to wait until the battery runs out to force a fresh reboot. You will have to leave the screen on for a few days until it goes but it has worked for some. Otherwise, it’s time to contact your provider as it may be a hardware fault.
