Needed some help finding a good laptop or laptop build. I listed some requirements below. Please feel free to add in with specific laptops, components, ideas, and/or flame.

lots of floating point operations (computational physics stuff)
parallel seems to do better on my machine
handle bursts of heavy computations ASAP.
interact decently with the HDD/SSD/non-volatile
fast and reliable
money matters after performance

oh and it needs to be very durable

Let me know if you'd like any other information.

Thanks!

Well you need a quad core CPU to begin with; preferably a quad core i7 CPU which has Hyper Threading.

Do the softwares you use support GPU floating point calculations? Do you need double precision floating point calculation which requires a workstation class GPU? Or is normal "single precision" floating point calculations good enough which any gaming GPU can handle?
