A Windows 7 computer has Office 2007 installed. A couple of months ago, when in any application in office 2007, the Save As dialog box no longer has the Folder Tree showing on the left. When you Open a document, worksheet, or presentation, the Folder Tree is visible in any application, but not when saving in the Save As dialog. This happened all at once.

Solution
After doing that... how are you closing Office?
Try clicking the office button then going to "Exit Word" (for example)
Hopefully this will cause it to save that setting if not...

Try:
1. regsvr32 /i shdocvw
2. sfc /scannow
in a command box.

I MS tech suggested that this setting may be saved in your profile and that deleting and creating a new windows user profile could potentially fix this issue.

I failed to mention that I have already done that, restarting Office after doing so, to no avail.

Yes, creating a new user profile made the problem go away, then just moving to the new user. Thank you. I have marked your answer as the solution.
