So I own an Alienware M17x R4 laptop, don't have the specs memorized (usually use a mac for non-gaming functions). Although I couldn't run high graphics-intensive games such as BF4, I could tolerate it. I ran 60 fps Skyrim on ultra no mods, 70-90 Team Fortress 2 on highest settings, 60 on l4d2 highest settings, and 30 fps tomb raider on highest settings (the only games I really play on pc atm). When I found a bunch of viruses on my computer (nearly all of which affected my web browser) and removed the majority of them, my framerate averages lowered greatly. On TF2 max settings I would get 45-60, Skyrim was 7-10, L4D2 was 24-30 on highest settings and Tomb Raider couldn't even function at any settings. I have been planning on building a new pc long before, but I still would like to get my laptop working as normal again. I updated my drivers which did nothing to change it. What should I do to change it back to normal? Should I install an antivirus software, and what type is best?
