The free versions are even worse than powerdvd. Most of the time when i try to get a blu-ray to play on my pc, i have to give up... can't even get vlc to play blu ray. It's a damn right nightmare for blu ray on pc.
It's not free, but I've always enjoyed Nero's BluRay player. As far as free ones, there's VLC Player. http/www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html It's a little spartan, with no keyboard controls, but stable and reliable, with little bloat.

VLC is a great video player, for all but blu ray. (and it does have keyboard controls). - For it to even have blu ray support, you need to download extra files and that doesn't even work over half the time... it's a total mess.
just install K-lite codec pack (basic + player is enough) and open the files straight from the bd.
i never cared for any software player beyond that, plus i dont have to skip thru ads/trailers, as i can directly start the movie..
