Man, really bad drives.. scares me off
But the later Quantums, i only had a 6.4 CX in the office that failed
(probably power surge) - it turns on, gives the green LED a half second on
and nothing else. BIOS cannot detect it. Weird.
My personal Quantums were great, sold off a 5GB, still using a 20GB lct
series one..right now.. added on a AS Plus 30GB. Still running well. Then
added a 80GB Maxtor and another HDD controller (after Maxtor merged w/Qtm),
still OK.
Maxtor was bad in the pre-merger days. 2.5GB drive failed, and I managed to
resurrect it after 6 mths in the closet...quickly formatted it and sold it
off
All OEM drives.
