[citation][nom]jamesedgeuk2000[/nom]This is in the UK mate not the US, we don't have "M" rated games over here, the question should be why was a 13 year old playing an 18 rated game O.O[/citation]
Does it really matter? PEGI18? ESRB M? just as bad either way.

In the USA, there's a big push against cyber-bullying. that's exactly what this is, not simply "beaten by a 13 year old" which some people claim. Do you think the guy would have taken action if he just got aced 15-0? no, it was the verbal abuse. And abuse is abuse and should be repaid in kind.

The guy should counter suit for verbal abuse.

On the other hand, isn't there a mute function?

A 13 year old boy calling a man d***head? Sounds like parental failure. Taunting in a game is one thing. Complete disrespect is another. If I had a child that did that they would be disciplined.

[citation][nom]lp231[/nom]In the past, if you done that, there will be a belt waiting for you. Now kids run amok and parents thinks it's okay and only portray what their child is in their "dream vision" while blacking out the reality of what their child is capable off. They should throw him into boot camp so they can drive some discipline into punk ass cause he lacks tons of it.[/citation]

The way of the belt. lol. I was brought up the same way. You do some stupid shit and you'll get a few smacks on the bottom. I'm in the Philippines and I don't know how it works over there for you. Wouldn't your kids call child services if you lay a hand on them?

FACT: Rated M -- is a guideline for helping parents to choose which games to pick for their children. A 13 year old playing a M rated game does not automatically make a parent a bad parent. You can raise your children playing games and still teach them to differentiate between fantasy and real. There is no Black and White an area like this. All Kids are different and grow up at different paces. The parents should always be involved. In this case, I feel the Mother should had been there and been involved. Neither one of them are responsible enough to have this game.

- sidenote: Trash talk playing COD is a culture all by itself. It is a culture in which Adults talk trash to each other. Although I don't agree with this, it is a reality of everyday gaming. This 13 year old should have never been allowed to this and falls back on the parent.

FACT - No one makes you lose your temper. You can only allow yourself to lose your temper. This man allowed himself to lose his temper and then made a decision to go assault a juvenille. Verbally assualting another is a Civil offense and does not justify this man physically assaulting him. (Criminal Offense)

I can't understand why in the world this Judge would suspend his sentence, I personally am less forgiving.

Sidenote: Touch one of my kids because you allow yourself to lose your temper - and pray the Judge keeps you behind bars.

[citation][nom]xjchcxx[/nom]I agree, but look at the logically concluded facts. 46, with 3 kids himself.. the dude needs more than a job at a fast food join to provide for that family. The d-bag kid is not in school, which means the standard business day is concluded, or it is the weekend. (july 1 of this year was a friday) I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say that he was searching for a job, and playing CoD to feel in control of something in his life. Men associate self worth with employment, so one could easily conclude he felt/feels worthless being unemployed (not all men, exceptions to every rule and stereotype) I myself am no exception, I spent a month after i graduated college unemployed and it drove me insane, i spent the subsequent year working in a coffee shop while my degree collected dust in the closet. during this time I got home from my crap job or no job and turned to games, to feel like i had control of something in my life, because i couldn't make anyone hire me..i spent 8 hours a day looking for a job, but the job market sucks. So i give the 46 year old guy the benefit of the doubt, but dude... you're 46! you have kids of your own, what was going through your mind!?!? Can i be angry at the child? no, not really... i LOL'd when I read that he was 13 because i have a running joke with friends that goes something like "man, i wish i had 8 hours a day, and 20 hours a day on weekends to commit to multiplayer games... if that's all i did all day i would be awesome too, but alas, i have a wife and I actually get to do the things they can only look up on website when mom isn't home..." The most disappointing person is the mother. In my opinion. She is clearly negligent or oblivious if she hears the gun shots in the other room and does not wonder what her kid is consuming. In the UK it's rated 18, this kid is 13.. there's foul language, blood, gore, and the subject matter is truly adult... this is the kind of parent that raises a child to pull off Columbine. It's not a UK thing either, same problem in any country with an xbox. Dear parents, stop letting your TV, or your gaming console raise your kids.. Take responsibility and be a parent.. do something with your kid and get them off the couch, else our next generation will look like the sedentary whales in Wall-E..[/citation]

So sitting on his ass playing video games will help him provide for his family how again? Then if one job isn't enough to provide for your family work two jobs. don't sit on your ass playing video games and not doing anything productive in your life that will benifit your family.

What is he control of? obv nothing that's productive in his life when he is sitting there playing video games, unless he is getting paid to play CoD which i highly doubt.

Well sitting on yuor ass not doing anything that's going to provide for your family income wise is worthless don't you think. I mean he isn't a single man he is a father of 3 kids. Is his wife having to pull in the income for him? If that's the case that's pretty down right pathetic and shows how much of a loser he is.

The diff is you tried looking for work. This guy gets upset over a 13 year old kid and assults him is beyond any excuse. I mean if he was out searching for work instead of playing video games he wouldn't have had to worry about what some 13 year old kid online had to say about him.

There is no benifit of the doubt for this guy he is a loser peroid. no 46 year old man would go and attack a 13 year old kid over a stupid meaningless video game. that right there make him a loser.

This is 100% the kids fault. You can't expect to mouth off someone like that and not get punched or worse. If the kid had walked up to the guy's face and just started hurling insults this wouldn't even be a news story, but because he did it over a game its somehow a big deal. Sure he's an adult and shouldn't hurt a kid (or anyone really) over verbal insults, but its the kid's fault for thinking he can get away with insulting someone he knows IRL and lives a block away.

And for playing an M rated title he should be strangled? This is the first time that I disagree with so many members of the venerable TH community. The issue isn't that the kid's playing an M rated title or not. The issue is that the MAN attempted to strangle SOMEBODY for killing his game character. Also, "Online gamepaly not rated by ERSB", Sounds familiar?

[citation][nom]spentshells[/nom]This is why I like PC games, most times lil kids dont have the scratch for a gaming PC.....still lots of dicks out there but at least they ain't 10-13[/citation]

It makes it so, so much worse when they're 20+. I would take a pre-teen acting his age over a 20 year old acting a decade younger than he is any day of the week.

If you're a big enough man to run off your mouth, you're a big enough man to take the beating that's coming to you for it. Say nothing online that you wouldn't say face-to-face, because it might well come to that. And if you're a cowardly little dick who relies upon Internet anonymity to get away with trash-talking, you're the rightful target of anyone who wants you, because you're not a person. "Defenseless child", my ass. Bleed the fucker.

Events like this need to happen more often, not less. Give that man a medal.

That goes to show you that today's parents don't know what they're kids are doing with their time (M rated title) and who they're playing/messing with.
If my mother knew I was calling someone a d***head in the home, there'd be some explaining to do.

look know most of you are saying discipline use belts and beatings yeah shows why the world is nothing but shit why were always in warn bet if we weren't in war COD would not exist right. And let me tell you i wouldn't be hesitant if you hit me when i was younger with a belt you'd have gotten that belt right back. If your so big enough to strike a kid, then you're big enough to take the beating right back. i think what bradford did was wrong very wrong if i knew that kid id goto bradfords and would of laid him flat. There are reasons for mute buttons. use them
