Im hoping Im posting in the right forum. I have a samsung 50" 120hz tv as a monitor for my pc. no smart, 3d, wifi functions just a straight up led, which I use all the time for gaming, watching movies, shows, and what not. I have a receiver hooked up to it I am trying to unlock the 120hz mode for good no more 60hz. I tried toasty x, powerstrip, and I am currently looking for a edid override inf file. So if anyone has a suggestion on edid files or since I have everything going to the receiver and then to my tv is my pc not recognizing my monitor only the receiver AS my monitor? Or could it be actually set for 120 hz but the tv is showing me 60hz by default? Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time in advance.

Solution
120hz televisions only accept a 60hz input signal. the rest of the frames are faked in.

while this looks good for video (it smooths out the frames) it causes visible lag when playing games.

long story short: you dont want to enable 120hz mode for games. for movies perhaps.

I understand now I went back and did some more research, I was mistaking fps and input lag. Yeah your right 120 is divisable by 24fps, 60 is not so yes it would be great for watching movies and what not. That has nothing to do with input lag and gaming. Thanks for replying made me slow down and really read instead of skim here and there looking at the whole article(s) and not just what I thought I needed to read.
