Gateway dx4200-09 motherboard replacement

I thought I had read that your forum recommended the asrock H97M motherboard unit as a replacement for the Gateway DX4200-09 motherboard? The sound output stopped working and I'm looking at replacing the motherboard, processor, etc. What are your recommendations? Thanks, Robert
