Geforce driver problem

Hey guys , i got a HP Dv6910 tx laptop and recently its motherboard burned up and i got it replaced.. when i got it back it had Windows XP sp 3 and had all drivers installed properly but i didnt wanted to use XP so i formatted my laptop and installed Vista home premium 32 bit.. then went on installing drivers and found out the Geforce 8400M GS driver would'nt work as i got an error "The NVIDIA software couldnt locate any driver for the hardware so it will exit setup" so i gave it to HP and they installed GeForce 7100 GS driver on it rather than Geforce 8400M GS.. I just wanted to know if theres any way i could install 8400M GS's driver again on Vista..

Did you try a driver from nVidia or just the HP website?
Try these http/www.nvidia.com/object/notebook-win7-winvista-258.96-whql-driver.html

Note that for notebooks, it's generally recommended that you use the manufacturer's drivers, but in all my experiences, the ones from nVidia/ATI have worked just as good.

Yes i did try the driver from nVidia and hp's site.. both dont seem to work

You may need to have them replace the motherboard again, they could have replaced it with a slightly different model than what you had in there before.

The laptop has native Vista drivers so they should install from HP if the hardware is working properly.

one last try before that is to attempt an "clean sweep" of all nvIdia drivers and then install fresh drivers;
if that doesn't work then the only move left is to return for a new motherboard..
