Get rid of HUM

I have a problem with Tinnitus. In order to sleep at night, I have purchased a noise generator. As it had no EAR JACK and only a built in speaker, My wife complains that it keeps her awake. In order to overcome this I have disconnected the internal speaker and connected to a female Jack. It works fine apart from noise HUM that I am now getting on the ear piece. I am using a 6 Volt mobile charger in place of 4 one and a half volt batteries. The problem that I would like help with please, is how can I get rid of the "mains hum "

If you don't get any hum with the batteries the charger might be the problem. Try a 6v dc power supply rather than a 6v mobile battery charger which isn't really made to power active electronics just charge batteries.

Thanks for the advice, No problems with Batt. Will purchase a 6v dc charger.
