So my hard drive on my Asus A53e laptop died and I didn't have any kind of back so I pretty much lost everything. I ended installing a new hard drive and installing Vista Home Premium since I only had one copy of Windows 7 and I doubt I would have been able to use the registry key twice. Unfortunately as I am finding out this particular laptop does not support Windows Vista as I cannot find any kind of hard ware drivers compatible with it.

What can I do? without the hardware drivers I cannot install the wireless or Ethernet drivers, video drivers etc so the laptop is pretty usless

Your laptop should have the Windows 7 Product Key in the COA sticker on the bottom of the laptop, and you can use that key to download a Windows 7 ISO which you can burn to DVD or use to make a USB Windows 7 installer.

For Windows Vista, see if SlimDrivers can find the drivers for you.

Uninstall the program afterwards or disable all it's automatic settings.
Another option is installing...
1) What OS did it have before?

2) Did you just buy a copy of Vista?

(otherwise I would have suggested getting Windows 10).

3) If you had Windows 7 or 8 originally you can simply install Windows 10 from scratch for FREE. That would be ideal.
a) download the media creation tool,
b) burn an appropriate version of Windows 10 (i.e. W10 Home 64-bit)
c) Boot to DVD/USB stick, delete any existing partitions, finish W10 install (do not enter key. if you had W7 or W8 before it will auto activate for you through the MS server)

MS media creation tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10

(when running you'd have to choose "other PC" option to download the ISO and burn to disc/USB stick)

4) *Ethernet works by default if you have Vista. Just plug it into your router.

5) THESE drivers may work, but install only what you need (if you install W10 it should install everything automatically, except maybe the card reader which usually can be installed from the previous OS version's driver for that)

For any INTEL drivers you should try the Intel software update tool:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

To repeat, do NOT install any drivers or software if in doubt whether you need them.

Other:
When finished, make a backup IMAGE of your C-drive using Acronis True Image or a similar tool to another drive if possible.

Another option is installing Windows 7 drivers in Vista.. some may work and some may not, but I've found most do. They've been a few but most have worked and the same with a few Vista drivers on 7.
