Getting DVD player to work with Roku tv

connected older DVD player with composite video/stereo audio cable provided to me by a best buy store worker. i hooked it up as obvious as it is...and it does not work. I have a new roku tv.

Any suggestions ?

Some TVs have a shared composite - component video input. Check the TV owners manual. You may have to set it to composite.
