Gmail Rolls Out Video and Voice Chat

Google today announced the addition of voice and video chat to Gmail. Just like the recent additions of Google Calendars and Google Docs to the left nav panel, users can use the voice and video chat options from inside Gmail.

So I wonder if this is going to use the same feature of "recording" chats and keeping it in the mailbox as before, only with the video and audio as well.

This Google video chat plugin is really a great step forward for easier Mac PC cross-platform video. With an ever growing number of fully Apple compatible webcams available and Apple Laptops and whatnot with built-in iSights - the missing piece contines to be software. AOL/iChat between Mac & PC doesn't work for many people, Yahoo/MSN can't do it right. GoogleTalk looks poised to join SKYPE as one of the few other working solutions that's widely used.
