Just finished a new build (http://) and I am wondering what is a good anti-virus software. I heard good things about Trend Micro, BitDefender, and some others; but I am not certain which one to choose. I am here hoping that the people of Tom's Hardware will guide me in the right direction. So I guess I am asking, what are good anti-virus softwares? Also when saying if they are good, or not, please specify a reason so I can understand why. Thanks in advance!

Microsoft Security Essentials. I have ditched all other programs for this one and it works great. Also a good anti-virus software is just a little common sense and knowing what not to click or download.

Bitdefender would be the best option if you are looking for the best one! Personally i have not used an Antivirus in the past 5 years and still no problems you just need to be a little careful!

I heard good things about Bitdefender, but I heard there are incompatibility issues with some programs sometimes. Also thanks for the charts, Trend Micro scored great there too. I might get Trend Micro soon so anyone with another good antivirus software, reply quick!

AV software reliability and ease of use seems to be dependent upon the phases of the moon, whether it is high or low tide and whether there is a Rep or Dem in the white house. J/K. The strange thing is that one app may be great one year and then they redesign the interface and change the engine and then it is horrible the next.

I wouldn't trust those sites too much , I don't know where they get their funding to test the apps.

i'd like to know if anyone here uses ClamAV? I'd like to test it on some machines and see how it fares.
